Surrey is one of the leading national and international University centres for research in tourism. Main strengths and areas of expertise are in Tourism Management and Development, specialising in:

– Culture, Heritage and Identity
– Economics and Demand Forecasting
– Education and Theory
– Human Resources Development and Labour Markets
– Social Tourism and Exclusionary Practices
– Sustainability and Ethics
– Tourism, Policy and Development Theory
– Visual and Visuals

Since 2000, Surrey has attracted over £1 million in funding for research in the fields of tourism and hospitality and academic staff regularly publish their work in top journals.

Other research activities

Surrey organises tourism and hospitality conferences and events for national and international audiences and hosts a large PhD programme as well as master degree and undergraduate programmes in tourism.
